2 : c Flour
2 : Tb brandy
1 : c Sugar
1/2 : ts Salt
1/2 : lb Butter or margerine
1 : ts Baking powder
3 : Eggs
2 : To 3lb hrtnng .milk
Powdered : Powdered sugar
1 : md Yellow squash, diced
4 : Shallots, with tops, chopped
1 : qt Water
2 : tb Maple syrup
5 : sl Cucumber (1/2" thick)
1 : tb Salt
1/4 : ts Black pepper
0: Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt
1: Combine egg, shortening, milk and vanilla and add to dry mixture
2: Stir just until all flour is moistened
3: Stir in nuts
4: Turn into greased loaf pan or divide between 2 greased 2 1/2 lb cans
5: Bake in 350 oven for 80 minutes or 70 minutes for cans
6: Var: 1) Blend 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1 1/2 Tbls
7: flour, 1 tsp
8: cinnamon and 2 Tbls
9: butter together
10: Prepare batter as directed
11: Pour half into loaf pan
12: Sprinkle strusel mixture over batter
13: Top with remaining batter
14: Bake according to instructions
15: 2) Add 2 tsp
16: grated orange peel to egg and milk mixture
17: Add 3/4 cup chopped candied fruit with the nuts
