0: Grate orange peel and set aside
1: Squeeze orange juice
2: In a small bowl beat juice, buttermilk, egg and extract until smooth
3: In a large bowl combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt until well mixed
4: Cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture looks like fine granules
5: Add sugar, almonds & orange zest and toss to combine evenly
6: Using a fork, stir in egg mixture to form a soft dough
7: Turn out dough onto a floured board
8: Knead several times just until well mixed
9: Shape 8-10 slightly flatten rounds
10: Bake in 375 degree oven for about 20 minutes or until browned
11: Makes 8-10 scones
12: Note: These are even more flavorful the next day
