0: Sift flour, salt and baking powder into bowl

1: Stir in shortening and milk

2: Knead lightly to gather dough into ball

3: Roll out dough on lightly floured board

4: Cut into diamond shapes

5: Cut small slit in the center of each diamond

6: Heat shortening in deep fryer to 370 deg

8: When dropping diamond-shaped dough into hot oil, stretch the dough a little bit lengthwise, and pull open the slit in the center

9: Fry 2 or 3 at a time until golden on both sides

10: Drain on paper towels
