Cranberry Turnovers with Maple Glaze recipe

Ingredients

1/4 : c Water

3/4 : c Sugar

1/2 : c Red currant jelly

3 : c Fresh or frozen cranberries

-(a : -(a 12-ounce package),

-thawed, : -thawed, if frozen

1 : Firm,ripe pear,pared,cored

-and : -and chopped,about 1 cup

1/2 : c Butter

1 : /4 c All-purpose flour

1/4 : c Sugar

2/3 : c Finely chopped walnuts

-(or : -(or finely ground)

1/2 : ts Ground cinnamon

2 : Egg yolks

1/2 : ts Cream of tartar

4 : Egg whites

1/2 : c Sugar

1 : c Flour

2 : tb Sugar

1/3 : c Oleo or butter

1 : c Pecans; finely chopped

1 : /4 c Sugar

2 : tb Flour

2 : Eggs; beaten

2 : tb Milk

1 : tb Orange rind; grated

1 : ts Vanilla

1 : c Cranberries; chopped

1/2 : c Coconut

3/8 : c Butter

3/4 : c Sugar

1 : lg Egg

1 : ts Vanilla

1 : c Flour

1 : ts Baking powder

1/3 : c Milk

3/4 : c Chopped cranberries

1/2 : c Chopped pecans

1/2 : c Flaked sweetened coconut

Directions

1: In a large bowl combine yeast, milk, and honey

2: Let mixture stand for 5 minutes

3: Stir in 1-1/2 cups of the flour and let batter rise for 15 minutes

4: Add remaining flour, salt, and butter to form a dough

5: Knead dough for 5 minutes on a floured breadboard, then place in a clean bowl and cover with a dish towel

6: Let dough rise for 45 minutes

8: In a covered saucepan over medium-high heat, simmer cranberries, apples, the water, and currants until berries pop

9: In a small bowl mix 2/3 cup of the maple syrup, arrowroot, lemon juice, cinnamon, and lemon rind

10: Uncover saucepan and add maple syrup mixture to cooking cranberries

11: Stir well

12: Heat, stirring constantly, until thick

13: Remove from heat and let cool 15 minutes

15: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F

16: Lightly oil a large baking sheet

17: Separate dough into 8 balls

18: Roll into 5-inch circles on a floured breadboard

19: Place equal amounts of cranberry filling into the center of each circle

20: Lightly dampen edges of circle with water and fold edges in to form a turnover, pressing to seal

22: In a small saucepan over high heat, bring the remaining maple syrup to a boil

23: Cook for 3 to 4 minutes

24: Remove from heat and then brush tops of turnovers with syrup

25: Place turnovers on prepared baking sheet and bake until browned (about 20 minutes)
