1 : Loaf italian or french bread

5 : c Chicken or vegetable stock

Directions

0: Dissolve the yeast in warm water

1: Add remaining ingredients and knead a bit

2: Let rise about one hour

3: Pinch off a piece about the size of an egg and make a hole in the middle

4: Fry in 1-2 inches of oil

5: Drain on paper towels

6: Shake in a brown bag with granulated sugar

7: NOTES : The fried dough that I literallly grew up on was just plain Italian bread dough

8: No sugar and no shortening
