Directions

0: Prepare onion topping: Heat butter in medium sized skillet over low heat

1: Add onion, rosemary & salt:; saute until softened, about 15 minutes

2: Remove from heat

3: Preheat oven to 450

4: Prepare dough: Sift together flour, powder, rosemary & salt in bowl

5: Cut shortening into flour mix until it resembles coarse meal

6: Make well in center of dry ingredients

7: Pour in buttermilk all at once

8: Stir quickly with fork to form dough

9: Turn dough onto floured board

10: Gently knead 2-3 times

11: Pat dough into 3/4" thick piece

12: Cut out biscuits with floured 2" biscuit cutter

13: Place on ungreased baking sheet

14: Press scraps together (do not knead) Cut out more biscuits

15: Top each biscuit with onion topping

16: Bake in preheated 450 oven for 12-14 minutes or until lightly browned

17: Cool biscuits on sheet on wire rack for 2-3 minutes

18: Serve immediately
