Orange Date Bread recipe

Ingredients

36 : sl Party rye or pumpernickel

-bread : -bread

6 : oz Monterey jack cheese

Directions

0: BAKE at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes

1: MAKES 9 x 5-inch loaf

2: Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, and salt

3: Blend together butter and sugar in mixing bowl

4: Add 1 unbeaten egg; beat well

5: Grate rind in 1 medium orange (1 to 2 tablespoons); reserve

6: Combine juice of 1 orange with enough boiling water to measure 1 cup

7: Add alternately with dry ingredients to creamed mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients

8: Blend well after each addition

9: Stir in 1 cup dates, cut fine and nuts, chopped, and the orange rind

10: Turn into 9 x 5 x 3-inch pan, well greased on the bottom

11: Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) 50 to 60 minutes

12: Cool before slicing

13: *For use with Pillsbury's Best Self-Rising Flour, increase flour to 2 1/4 cups

14: Omit baking powder, soda and salt
